M.A.C. Announces Newest Celebrity- Ariana Grande

After weeks of teasing the new face of the Viva Glam collection on Twitter, Snapchat, and Instagram, M.A.C. finally unveiled on Periscope that Ariana Grande will be the next Viva Glam campaign spokeswoman.

According to the Periscope broadcast, the singer will be releasing two lip products—a dark-plum lipstick and a light-pink lip gloss—in January 2016. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to the World AIDS Fund.

Grande joins an esteemed list of previous Viva Glam spokespeople, including Miley Cyrus, Christina Aguilera, and Lady Gaga.

Though most stars typically choose matching lipstick and Lipglass hues, Ariana surprised us. She selected a dark-plum lipstick ("to represent the bad girl in you") with a sugary pale-pink gloss, which is meant to represent your inner good girl. "I think you should be able to play up both sides!" Ariana declared. You have plenty of time to save up for the pair of products — Ariana's debut makeup collaboration launches in January 2016.

If you're worried about spending money so soon after the holidays, don't. The star reminded us that it's "guilt-free shopping." One-hundred percent of the proceeds from her collection goes to the MAC AIDS Fund. Founded in 1994, the organization is committed to addressing the link between poverty and HIV/AIDS by supporting diverse organizations around the world. So far, MAC has raised over $380 million with its Viva Glam campaigns, and we're positive Ariana's lip shades will be responsible for many donations.

Check Out Annie Idibia Photos for a Breast Cancer Shoot

To help raise awareness for cancer, she posed for a Breast Cancer-inspired shoot by makeup artist Banjo Laide of ArabyLaide and photographer, Emmanuel Oyeleke, tagged #FightTheOdds.

The purpose is to “to create more awareness about cancer and the importance of self examination. Recent studies have shown that 20% of breast cancer is discovered by self examination rather than mammography and we must realize that cancer is not a respecter of persons. It could happen to anyone, even a celebrity like Annie Idibia. Imagine the lives that will be saved if more women physically checked themselves on a regular basis, imagine if we could stand against breast cancer by fighting the odds via self examination. Let’s save the life of a woman today, let’s examine ourselves today!“

In the photos we see Annie with a bald head, no makeup, and topless.

The shoot is a personal one for makeup artist, Banjo Laide. She shared her inspiration, which stems from a close encounter with Breast Cancer, via Instagram. She wrote;

“At the age of 18 I had a breast cancer scare as I noticed a hard lump on my left breast and a swelling occurred. After being examined I discovered it was a lump, and the doctor scheduled an appointment for it to be removed. But on the day of the surgery it was a miracle as it disappeared. It resurfaced again and I had no option but to do a mammogram. At the end of the day it was discovered I had high Prolactin level – a disorder that causes the pituitary gland to produce more Prolactin than normal. Although I was cancer free, the incidence was a wake up call on the importance of regular self examination. Because of this I decided to team up with Nollywood actress/entrepreneur Annie Idibia @AnnieIdibia1, and ace photographer Emmanuel Oyeleke @EmmanuelOyeleke, to create this look with the project called #FightTheOdds portraying that anyone can be a victim of cancer even a celebrity. S/o to the whole team who made this work.“

It's a very bold shoot, and it sure drives home the point of the awareness. Ladies please check your selves or get a medical professional to do it. #BreastCancer is real.

Let's Talk Lashes....

Hello Everyone,

So I worked on this amazing lady recently on a playful shoot.(I call it playful, cuz we were just lazying around having fun and playing makeup). She had the longest lashes I have ever come across. I tried fixing and I realised her lashes were same length with the false lashes, so we both agree to take it off. She said sometimes the lashes get into her eyes and she is always so tempted to trim them, I think they would only just grow longer if she does(but not sure)..lol.

I personally do not have that great a lash, they are short and scattered all over. If I have to use a mascara, the mascara brush must be small so it can get into my lash properly. So I decided to research on how to groom your lashes and these are my findings:

  • Avoid rubbing your eyes, it can damage your lashes and irritate the follicles, causing hairs to bend or fall. So in her situation, who knows maybe thats why the lashes gets into her eyes alot.
  • Wash your face daily, focusing on cleaning around your eyes. Use a gently face soap or moisturizing wipes to clear around your eyes and eye-lashes, removing dirt, and oil, for healthy and shiny lashes.
  • Wear less mascara. If you wear mascara every day, your eyelashes won't grow as thick and full as they would otherwise because your hair needs to breathe. For best results, wear it occasionally. You can also purchase mascaras made of more gentle, less artificial ingredients that won't harm your eyelashes as much.(it just might be expensive) and also its better to go for something temporary that you can take off at night, not those lashes we get to fix under the bridge and clogs of makeup falls on top making it look tacky and unsafe.
  • When you do wear mascara, always take it off before you go to bed. Use a gentle makeup remover or moisturizer with cotton pads to completely but gently remove all traces from your eyes.
  • Don't pump your mascara frequently, as it can cause it to dry out. If it is crusty or past the expiration date, through it out.
  • Never share mascara, as it transfers oil and potentially bacteria from one eye to another.(Highly important)
  • Gently massage petroleum jelly through your lashes every night before bed. If your eyelashes feel dry or you feel they aren't growing fast enough, you can try carefully moisturizing them with Vaseline before you go to bed. This helps heal any irritations and encourages growth.
So I am going to give this a try, maybe my lashes can grow to an impressive length and I won't have to wear false lashes that often anymore. Feel free to try this grooming exercise and please share your results.

Contouring: The Craze

Contouring- This is a trend that has gone really viral with the help of social media. You see alot of it on peoples random selfies, you come across a lot of tutorials on 'how to contour your face' and now makeup brand s have developed contour kits specially formulated for this trend. Some say it has existed for quite some time, and Kim kardashian made popular, this might be true, I really don't know.

What do I think about this new craze, it's not like my opinion matters much, but I would still talk. I feel it is over hyped and it's just too much products on your face. Our weather in this parts is just not so makeup friendly, we have more summers/hot days than the cool weather. So when you contour, and your face secrets oil under this heat, it doesn't look nice after awhile.Contouring is really helpful for make-up artists. Maybe for editorial shoots and pictures purposes, it would go well. But you are going for an event, or you are a bride, I don't think so. It's more of a professional tool than a trend that everyone should adapt if you get what I mean. It requires a person who really gets it.

It's not like I'm totally against it, as a make-up artist, if you ask me to contour, I would do it, cuz it is what you want, but I would let you know if it is what you need at the moment or not. I personally do not contour on myself(I hardly even wear foundation, got a flawless face...*battling eyelids*

The long and short of this post is, if you can achieve the perfect contour without people knowing you did, then kudos to you. Take a cue from Kim Kardashian.

New Trend Alert...Ombre Lips

Hi everyone,

So lately everyone seems to be rocking the Ombre Lips. It's the new craze in lip colour application. You line your outer lips with a darker shade of lipstick and use a lighter shade inside and blend the two touching edges together....

Here are some pictures I pulled of the net....

That's me, rocking my version of an ombre lips......
I actually like this lip trend compared to the gothic lip color that trended before it. I just felt the gothic dark lips went more with runway and editorial makeup. And it doesn't suit everyone, but ombre lips does it...

Over the years, style has become an art. The days of ordinary monotonous fabric designs are over. These days, designers create their own fabrics; think outside the box and pay a lot of attention to details.

The model picture here-Theresa Edem is a Nollywood actress, popularly known for the role she plays in the soap opera- Tinsel. Her personal style is very feminine, romantic and sexy. That sounds easy right? But she pays a lot of attention to details too which is the inspiration behind the fashion styling for the photoshoot.

According to the stylist behind the shoot Adekelu Ogunleye, “I wanted to style her in line with her personal style but with an edge to it. So, I opted for a wardrobe that’s very feminine (of course a dress will automatically come to mind) but vibrant.  The art embedded in each of the outfits makes it come alive and this styling collection symbolizes one thing “originality.”
