R.I.P One of Nigeria's Finest and Talented Makeup Artist- Adenike Ogungbe of Ewar Makeovers

This is really a sad one, I don't know what the nature of her death was, but it's just sad that young people are  dying this days. It just makes us wonder on a lot of things. How much we hold on to this life while in other sense God has other plans for us. I can only pray that the family she left behind, God would give them the strength to bear this great tragedy and keep them. Rest in Peace dear one, you were quite an inspiration and role model to alot of us up coming makeup artists and your works would always be a reference point.

Product Review - Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream SPF15

Hi everyone,

Did you miss me?....So I keep getting remarks on how I have a great skin, smooth, acne free and so forth. My friends ask me what products I am using and I should introduce them to it. The truth is that, I can't say I exactly have a beauty routine I keep to or a particular product, I'll just say, I believe I have been blessed with the type of skin i've got. Sometimes i even find it hard to even cleanse my face before going to bed (I don't recommend this to anyone o), that's just me being lazy.

A couple of months back I stumbled on a product at Giants Store- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle Cream and my curious mind led me to buy this product. Despite my flawless skin, I have seen some changes since using this product and I am going to share my review with you all.

REVLON
  • For my skin complexion, I would say it did wonders. If you want to even out your skin tone, I believe it's a great product.
  • It contains a certain amount of retinol which I learnt helps improve the appearance and texture of aging skin especially if used long term. (Who doesn't want to look younger?)
  • It's oil-free and when applied, gives your skin a smooth feeling.
  • I don't like to wear anything that would feel heavy on my face, but this feels very light and it isn't greasy.
  • And as I like to go with affordable...(cheap skate me..lol), it's inexpensive therefore making it easy to be part of your daily routine.
  • If you have a super sensitive skin, I would not be so quick to recommend this to you, because you have to be sure it would work for you or not. But as far as my normal to combination skin is concerned, it worked perfectly and I am definitely going to be using this product again, till I feel differently, I'll let you know if I do..*winks*
that's the clearest pic of myself I could get

Makeup for Photo Shoot

If you are planning to take pictures, there are a number of rules you should strive to keep in order to look good in artificial light and on camera. The lighting that will be used during the shoot depends on the parameters of the venue and you can control its effects through makeup. Sometimes this lights tend to bring out every details of your makeup, so if the application is done poorly, the pictures would not turn out nice.
  1. Cleanse your face 10-15 minutes before applying foundation. This makes the skin look brighter.
  2. Foundation should not have a shine or light-reflecting particles. Use a matting variety.
  3. If there is an area of your face that is particularly flaky, resist the temptation to cover it up with extra foundation. This will only bring attention to that area and make it more noticeable.
  4. Be careful with the yellow tones if you are taking pictures during the night. Yellow reflects the light of the flash and can ruin your photos. Instead go for the pink tones. They are not reflective and bring balance to the picture.
  5. Apply blush not only to your cheekbones, but also to your forehead, nose and chin. Apply it with a large brush and quick strokes in order to avoid excessive layering. Dab the brush in the blush and blow it out before you bring it to your face.
  6. Tweeze or shape your eyebrows a day or two before the shoot. Eyebrows are very important, because they highlight your eyes and set the overall expression of your face.
  7. Use volume mascara in order to make your eyes look larger and more expressive.
  8. Outline your lips with a pencil lip liner. If you have a small face with delicate features, be careful not to use too much lip liner and lipstick.
  9. Avoid using light colored lip liners. They do not look good on photos.
  10. Make sure your eyeshadows are neatly applied and all fall outs are properly cleaned.
  11. Never use a product that makes you feel uncomfortable. In order to get the perfect pictures, you have to feel relaxed and comfortable during the shoot.

Designer Dress Made from Rubber Bands

A Bulgarian architect from New York, Margarita Mileva has followed her passion for dress designing by giving her architectural profession a backseat. She had always been interested in fashion designing and recycling and she has merged these two distinctive fields and created an impressive designer dress by using the 18 thousand colored rubber bands. More often than not, rubber bands, a very underrated office stationary ends up in waste bins and the designer has decided to give it a twist and turn it into something fashionable and chic. The dresses made by Mileva look more like works of art than dresses and she has successfully brought forth her passion for going green and designing through the creation of this innovative ‘Rubber Band Dress’.

This garment has been hand made by using a technique in which the rubber bands are twisted and knotted to each other- a little like weaving. It tool Mileva over and above 150 hours to create a single dress which weighs near around ten kilos. The off shoulder dress looks quite easy to wear, but looks are deceptive as it isn’t as easy as it looks to get into the garment. However, the pain is all worth it as you are assured that you would find no one else wearing a similar dress at any event and you would be the show stopper.

This innovative hobby came out of Mileva’s interest in making collages, creating jewelery out of rubber bands and paper clips and knitting and by making a full-fledged outfit, she merely took the step that would bring her passion out in the open. Mileva makes sure that each of her Rubber Band Garments is unique as she uses designs of Maori tattoos to create similar patterns in her garments. For a competition that took place in New Zealand, she even went a step ahead to create matching shoes out of rubber bands to match the garmet. Although Mileva admits to never having worn any of her creations, but she has received great reviews from her models who have donned her creations.

Mileva is now ready to take her passion to the next level by turning it into a full fledged business and is now ready to take orders. Her next project would be to make a wedding dress out of rubber bands. The best thing about her rubber band creations is that they have a certain bounce to them and therefore the dress dances to each move that the wearer makes.
