Tina Knowles Says Beyonce Is Not Pregnant 'Right Now'

Yesterday, a story spread like wildfire that Beyonce Knowles is expecting her first child with husband, Jay Z. But, her fashion designer mother, Tina Knowles, put those rumors to rest on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show.'

"I heard that, but I'm here to clear the rumors up. The truth is that it's not Beyoncé that's pregnant, it's me," joked Tina. "I'm kidding ya'll. I'm 56."

She clarified that the rumor was "not true."

And, though she says the 'Dreamgirls' star is not pregnant "right now," Tina added, "I'm looking forward to it. With all the rumors, by now I should have five or six grandchildren."

As previously reported, Us Weekly broke the story that the 16-time Grammy Award-winning singer and actress is in her first trimester and that the pregnancy was not planned.

Uti Nwachukwu Wins Big Brother All Star

Nigeria has won the Big Brother Africa reality show for the second ’year’ running.

Nigeria’s representative in the novel BBA All Stars edition Uti Nwachukwu was tonight announced winner after an interesting 91 days in the house.

Uti, 27 and Munya, 24 from Zimbabwe were the last two contestants in the house. Both guys, with their national flags hanging on their shoulders, and anxiety written on their faces, waited as host IK worked the audience as he prepared to announce the winner.
And so it is that at 7:45PM Nigerian time, IK announced Uti as the winner.
And Munya wept; as Uti jumped up, broke into dance and songs and sang the Nigerian national anthem proudly.
Interestingly, Munya was leading in polls for several weeks, and considered by many as a sure contender for the big prize. But, apparently, Nigerians, with huge numbers on their side, voted for their own. The Nigerians are not alone though – seven other countries voted heavily for Uti, according to IK.

A big congrats to our guy Uti for winning the big cash.

Lets Talk Pimples Talk

What are Pimples?

Bacterial infection in the overactive oil glands situated at the base of the skin generally leads to the formation of Pimples. They are usually pus-filled raised bumps on the skin. Pimples are ugly to look at and most time considered a source of social embarrassment. The face, neck, chest, back and even shoulders are some of the most common sites of this infection.

Frequent breakouts of Pimples are referred to as Acne. Infected blackheads and whiteheads usually lead to the formation of Pimples. Contrary to the popular belief, Pimples are not caused due to dirt, sweat, or consumption of oily foods, chocolates, etc.

Renowned Nigerian Designer Deola Sagoe on CNN

The international media continues to ‘knock on our door’ and seem to be trying to understand the Nigerian fashion industry. A few months ago, CNN spotlighted the Nigerian Fashion industry and highlighted the ‘tailor-made’ fashion system which is commonplace in Nigeria.

Once again, in a seeming continuation of the previous feature, they tackle the same topic as CNN reporter, Nima Elbagir explored the Lagos fabric markets, purchased ankara fabric and got an item sown for her.
The feature then transitioned to a more upmarket focus as they visited renowned Nigerian designer, Deola Sagoe. Deola spoke eloquently about the Nigerian and African fashion industry and the how Africa has a lot of inspiration has been borrowed from Africa by the West via “tribal” fashion. According to Deola, “...Now, its a renaissance, we are claiming back what is ours“.

The feature also showcased other aspects of the Deola Sagoe brand including their recently launched line of Polos and Denim.

I’ll tell you what they say about Deola Sagoe, they say, go to her if you are an ugly duckling and she will turn you into a swan

Happy Birthday Fela!

If he didn’t pass away on August 2nd 1997, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Nigerian Afrobeat maestro, prophet and about the most revolutionary musician-bandleader from Nigeria, would have clocked 72 today.

Fela was a prophet who was appreciated by people home and abroad – except for different Nigerian governments who found his lyrics too harsh and too piercing. He was a thorn in their flesh, and they did all they could, to get rid of him.

Fela made music, loads of it. For everything he was known for: women, weed, wine, politics, advocacy, polygamy and even teaching, the most important tool Fela used to shape his world was his music. The lyrics are fierce and real; the music rich, detailed and intense. No wonder over a decade after his death, his amazing discography continues to be on heavy demand across the world. Afrobeat bands are springing up everywhere possible, Fela biographies are sitting on bestsellers’ lists and the broadway show Fela! is already a global hit and multiple award winner.

T.I. Sent Back to Prison for 11 Months

T.I. had his probation revoked during a court hearing earlier today (October 15) and was sentenced to 11 months in prison. The sentence stems from a recent arrest in which cops found marijuana, codeine and ecstasy in the rapper's vehicle while he was still on probation for federal gun possession. Tip reportedly told the judge he needed help for drug addiction and begged the judge not to be sent back to prison.

The New 50 Naira Independence Note

The New Note
President Goodluck Jonathan, formally launched the N50 commemorative notes and non circulating coins, as part of activities to mark Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary.

The new note is expected to exist side by side with the old one, while the coins will serve as souvenirs during the anniversary.

While speaking at the occasion, the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, stated that the new note, which is designed to commemorate the anniversary, is obviously the same with the circulating N50.

The only difference, he noted, is the addition of the 50th anniversary logo, a gold iridescent band, and a goodwill message written in varnish.

“The new note will circulate side by side with the existing N50 polymer notes. While some of the commemorative coins are produced in 22 carat gold, others are gold plated silver

Jokes Jokes Jokes

Little Johnny

The kindergarten class had a homework assignment to find out about something exciting and relate it to the class the next day. When the time came for the little kids to give their reports, the teacher was calling on them one at a time.

She was reluctant to call upon little Johnnie, knowing that he
sometimes could be a bit crude. But eventually his turn came.
Little Johnnie walked up to the front of the class, and with a piece
of chalk, made a small white dot on the blackboard, then sat back down. Well the teacher couldn't figure out what Johnnie had in mind for his report on something exciting, so she asked him just what that was.

"It's a period," reported Johnnie.

"Well I can see that," she said. "But what is so exciting about a period."

"Damned if I know," said Johnnie, "but this morning my sister said she missed one. Then Daddy had a heart attack, Mommy fainted and the man next door shot himself."

Security agency blames rain for failure to stop blasts

In a curious admission of laxity, the State Security Service (SSS) has said that it received warnings more than 30 hours prior to last week’s Independence Day bombings in Abuja.
It, however, blamed the early morning rain for its lack of ability to prevent the deadly acts. The twin blasts, which killed 16 people, have triggered concerns about national security alertness after the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) claimed it sent warnings to state agencies five days ahead of the killings.
Initial plot foiled
The SSS said on Monday that it nipped an initial plot scheduled two days earlier -Wednesday- by evacuating vehicles around the Three Arms Zone, but said the perpetrators “apparently” mixed with motorists to plant the lethal cars, during the Friday morning rains.
The SSS, in a statement yesterday, said, “On 1st October 2010, the Eagles Square and its environs were effectively cordoned-off and appropriate measures were put in place to prevent any untoward incident. However, the rain showers of that morning provided the leeway for double parking by motorists. In the process, the perpetrators apparently gained access to park on the road side as well.”
Henry Okah, the alleged leader of the MEND, was charged in South Africa yesterday for terrorism, in connection with the bombings. The SSS said it has made nine arrests so far, and all have direct links with Mr. Okah, the incident, and some “unscrupulous prominent elements”. It said the names of their sponsors would not be released since the investigations are not completed.
The statement, signed by Marilyn Ogar, the agency’s assistant director of public relations, said the SSS, with its head office about one kilometre from the scene of the explosions, received its first intelligence on the bombings, three days earlier -on Tuesday, September 28, 2010, about 1.30pm.
“As soon as the information was received,” the agency said, it foiled the initial plot, which was billed for Wednesday, September 29, to scare foreign dignitaries from attending the October 1st Golden Jubilee celebrations.
In the warnings it received, the Three Arms Zone, which hosts the Presidency, the National Assembly, and the Supreme Court, is said to have been targeted for bombings. The Service said it contacted the military, which provided three towing trucks to be combined with those of the SSS, for the removal of vehicles around the area.
The operations lasted from 2.15pm to 6.30pm Tuesday, and nine “abandoned” vehicles were towed away, the Service said. Of these, two were near the SSS headquarters, two facing the villa gate and the NASS, two close to the Louis Edet police headquarters, one at the Eagle Square, and two around Apo legislative quarters.
“It is worthy of note that out of the seven vehicles removed from the Three Arms Zone, four are yet to be collected,” the statement continued.
The operation later extended to the Federal Road Safety Corps, with a mandate to remove unclaimed vehicles in other parts of the federal capital territory. That lasted till October 1st morning, and saw the removal of 65 vehicles, according to the agency.

Fashion Collective in Tribute to Nigeria at 50 & Celebrating the Formidable African Woman....“La Dame, La Muse” by Temple Muse

Lagos-based Luxury fashion retailer, Temple Muse sponsored by Veuve Clicquot in collaboration with the ever-talented Omoyemi Akerele (Founder of www.stylehousefiles.com and Fashion Editor of FLAIR Magazine) developed a unique concept – “La Dame, La Muse” to pay tribute to Nigeria at 50 and “celebrate the formidable African woman”.
“La Dame, La Muse” is the unique work of thirteen of Nigeria’s top and emerging fashion designers. Each of these designers has created special one-of-a-kind pieces with which to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the nation’s independence. ‘La Dame, La Muse’ is a celebration of the inspirational artistry and exceptional creative talent that has grown in the world of Nigerian fashion over the years. At the launch event which took place on the September 24th 2010, thirteen special one-off pieces were on display.
Every one of these pieces has been inspired by the story of Nigeria, the history and diversity of the nation, and by the heritage of the formidable African woman. Below are designs of a few designers....
Ituen Basi

Ituen Basi’s celebration of the ubiquitous Ankara continues in her new collection titled ‘Independence with the Edidiong 50, designed exclusively for the La Dame La Muse collective.
The Edidiong 50, which belies the intricate craftsmanship synonymous with the label stays true to the essence of the Ituen Basi label and sees Ituen working solely with cotton Ankara. Her fabric treatment creates a textured surface, which echoes the delicate body-skimming silhouette. The simplicity of line and starkness of print enhances experimentation with wispy fun and surprise detailing.
For colour, Ituen opts for the intensity of forest green with slashes of orange evoking the energy and celebration of the Nigerian harvest season.
Jewels by Lisa

Jewel by Lisa (JBL) has since its origin been inspired by the 60′s. That era played a great role in the lives of Nigerians during Post colonialism as British-led dressing forever changed the way they saw clothing and the idea of the local garb.
Based on the fashion of the 60′s and the ‘Space race’, JBL has created for ‘La Dame, La Muse’ a luxurious, timeless piece that evokes a desire to reference the past whilst looking to the future. The dress, a work of art, in an Ankara print, is a celebration of independence and portrays Nigeria’s symbols of peace and vegetation through shades of white and green.
Lanre DaSilva - Ajayi
Couture, colour and boldness are the signature of my designs. However, there is now an edgy side to my most recent collections. This special dress for Nigeria at 50 is made for a brilliant woman who knows a little bit about the seasons in fashion and bold enough to carry my creativity. I have explored new steps in fashion to create a further evolution of my brand hence my choice of lace and silk fabrics.
Rock n Roses
This unique masterpiece carries history, value, characteristics and discovery. The style is inspired by the Benin culture where women are draped in various colourful beads, expressing a whole range of political and social subtleties beyond the merely aesthetic.
The beautiful necklace has 12 strands of gorgeous semi-precious stones in amazing colours that burst out with Nigeria’s spirit where white freshwater pearls represent our desire for peace and unity within the country and beautifully faceted peridot celebrating our lush green land and vegetation.

Nigerians are quite patriotic don't you think??.....Lovely designs to mark Nigerias 50th Independence.

Lip Liner The Do’s And Don’ts

Lip Liners are certainly very effective in giving shape and definition to your lips; they can add volume to your pout and make sure that your lipstick stays intact for a longer time.
However, there are things that you should watch out for when you apply your lip liner:
  • Match the shade: Make sure that the color of your lipstick and lip liner or lip pencil is as similar as possible. Don't go use a black lip liner and apply a red lipstick or balck and gold, cuz I have seen that alot on the lips of ladies. It is wrong.

  • Make a thin even line and Blend: Make sure that you don’t apply your lip liner with a heavy hand. The whole essence is to outline and not fill. So a thin precise line that follows the lines of your lips should be applied and blended in properly.
Then when you fill in the rest with the actual lipstick or lip color make sure that the two elements blend and look even and uniform. Often times your lipstick will wear off and if not well blended, all that you will be left with is the lip liner, which is not going to look good!

FYI - Vitamin C rich diet and beauty products may slow skin wrinkling

Researchers now report that people who eat plenty of vitamin C-rich foods have fewer wrinkles than people whose diets contained little of the vitamin.

Vitamin C is an antioxidant, which means that it can combat the effects of free radicals in your body and on your skin. Free radicals are the unstable molecules in the environment that can cause aging of the skin. So, when vitamin C is properly delivered into skin cells, there is a good chance to reduce wrinkles and improve skin texture.

However, eating a bag of oranges every week is not going to bring about the desired results for your skin. In order to see the benefits of vitamin C on the outside of your body, you will need to find a way to combine a healthy diet that is rich in vitamin C with skin care products that contain this important nutrient. Scientists have now discovered how to use a variety of vitamin C derivatives in skin care products that will bring about the same benefits as natural vitamin C with less of the ingredient required for results.

Apart from intake of vitamin c there are also other ways to protect skin from damage and keep it glowing. Free radicals which damage the skin are accumulated due to excessive sun exposure, cigarette smoke and environmental pollutants. Hence, skin has to be protected against these. Have plenty of water, when people are dehydrated wrinkles are much more noticeable. Use sunscreen and a good night moisturizer.

Nigeria @ 50 ! ! !

Lets count our blessings as a Nation. 50 years of Independence and what exactly do we have to show for it? The Giant of Africa as we are called and this is what I would say we have to show for it.......

Nigeria has been truely blessed over the last couple of years amidst all the crisis (i mean which country doesn't have crisis). We were held by military dictatorship over a period of time, but with God's intervention (cuz thats about the only explanation i can give it) we were released from that.

Across the Globe, we hear of wars, natural disasters and what have you, but here in Naija we've been lucky. yes we might have religious crisis here and there (caused mainly by the fact that we have over 200 ethnic groups, how many other country can have this much ethnic tribes and still stand  whole as a Country) but not enough to put the whole Country into a major distress.

We might have hevay rainfall to flood a street, but not enough to wipe out a State or confuse the Nation as a whole.

Arungugu Festival
If we look on the bright side, Nigerians are basically fun and life lovers. Amidst the proverty, corruption, riots etc.... Nigerians are still smilling. We were once listed in a poll as one of the countries with a happy population. Yes we have all these to be appreciative for, but now that we have gotten to this Golden Jubilee age, it's time to sit down and reflect back on our past mistakes so as to be able to correct them, reflect on the situation of the general population constituting nigerians as a whole and start to touch lives.

Agbani Darego(one time Miss World)
Another election is drawing closer, the Politicians coming forward , are they volunteering cause they have the interest of the masses at heart? Or they are just there cause of their thirst for power and the riches that comes with it?

We the general public, are we also committing the mistakes our leaders are doing all in the name of corruption is from above? Are we our brothers keepers? If the leaders are messing up, does this mean we should also rob, kill, and commit all sorts of atrocities as well?

Nigeria @ 50, lets all pray and act. Lets not sit down and fold our hands and say statements like ..'' things are good'', ''it is well'', ''e go better''. Lets make it better (little drops of water makes a mighty ocean). Go out there and vote credible leaders that would take this country foward and benefit our future generations to come.

Hungry power intoxicated politicians, please I beg you sit down in your respective homes and leave Nigeria alone. I mean how much more power can you handle (too much of everything is not good o)? The riches you have accumitaled and robbed Naija off over the last 50 years is enough. There are people out there that can't even afford a meal a day and you are there thirsting for more power. Enough is Enough o.......

Long Live The Federal Republic of Nigeria......
Long Live The Citizens of Nigeria......
Long Live Tolu Makeovers(lol..)
